FLVio (pronounced "Flav-ee-o") is a video web-service aimed at web site operators who want to enable user-generated video content on their sites but don’t want the cost or hassle of building and managing the technical infrastructure. This site seeks to explain how the FLVio technology works and to provide an opportunity to test the FLVio demonstration.
The FLVio Media Farm handles the encoding, storage and delivery of web-optimised video content. Users can upload most common video formats, including videos recorded using camera phones, digital cameras and camcorders. Videos are re-encoded into Flash video and then served from the FLVio infrastructure.
FLVio has been designed to operate as a "hands-off" web-service. The FLVio solution integrates with web sites by means of a simple API, designed around open standards such as HTTP, XML and REST principles. Web site developers should be able to integrate with FLVio and provide video functionality to their users with little effort. FLVio includes a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to provide the most efficient delivery service. CDNs accelerate content delivery by automatically caching content as close to the end user as possible.
